How many bags are free on Qatar Airways?

The baggage allowance received by the customers after they Book Qatar airways flights is very generous. As a matter of fact, it has the maximum weight and size of baggage that is ever allowed on an airline. This goes for all the travel classes of the flight. However, the size and weight restrictions differ for obvious reasons.

Baggage allowance of Qatar Airways.

Economy Class.

There are three different categories of seats in the economy class of Qatar Airways. Namely;

1. Economy Classic; checked baggage of 25kg (or 55lb) and hand luggage of 1 piece weighing 7kg (or 15lb).
2. Economy Convenience; checked baggage of 30kg (or 66lb) and hand luggage of 1 piece weighing 7kg (or 15lb).
3. Economy Comfort; checked baggage of 35kg (or 77lb) and hand luggage of 1 piece weighing 7kg (or 15lb).

Business class.             

There are three different categories of seats in the business class of Qatar Airways. Namely;

1. Business Classic; checked baggage of 40kg (or 88lb) and hand luggage of 2 pieces of 15kg (or 33lb) in total.
2. Business Comfort; checked baggage of 40kg (or 88lb) and hand luggage of 2 pieces of 15kg (or 33lb) in total.
3. Business Elite; checked baggage of 40kg (or 88lb) and hand luggage of 2 pieces of 15kg (or 33lb) in total.

First Class.

There’s only one type of first-class seat available with Qatar Airways.

First Elite; checked Baggage of 50kg (or 110lb) and hand luggage of 2 pieces of 15kg (or 33lb) in total.

Hand luggage policy.

• Each piece or bag carried for hand baggage must have dimensions under the (50x37x25) cm or (20x15x10) inches limit.
• Passengers can carry a laptop along with a laptop bag without any fee.
• A number of personal items are allowed to be carried free of cost in the cabin except for your hand baggage. Including;
  • A small briefcase.
  • Cape.
  • A walking stick.
  • Blanket.
  • An infant carrying basket.
  • Coat/overcoat.
  • Woman’s handbag.
  • An umbrella.
  • A small camera.
  • Binoculars.
  • Baby food, medicine, and a separate bag consisting of supplies for infants.
  • Reading material i.e., books, magazines, newspapers, etc.
  • A pair of crutches.
  • Duty-free items purchased on the same date of your flight can also be carried.
• Passengers can carry gels, pastes, aerosols, and liquid containers in their hand baggage. However, they must be up to the 100ml limit with a transparent, resealable bag not exceeding its dimesons than (20×20) cm.

Checked Baggage Policy.

• The sum of dimensions for checked-in baggage must not be more than 158cm (by piece) or 300cm (by weight).
• A single bag in checked-in baggage should not have a weight of more than 32kg (70lb).
• If the limit for checked baggage exceeds, additional charges apply to the excess baggage depending upon your;
  • Route type.
  • Flight ticket.
  • Arrival/departure destination.
  • Privilege club membership.
  • Travel class.
• When traveling with a codeshare partner of Qatar Airways, it is advised to confirm the baggage allowance for your ticket from the representative airline in advance.
• If your carry-on baggage is in excess, the extra baggage would be adjusted in checked baggage. However, subject to the availability of space.
• Qatar airways don’t usually charge for the 1-2 kg extra on checked baggage. However, policies might differ for different circumstances.

So as a general rule of thumb Qatar airways ticket price for economy class only allows 1 piece of hand baggage and 1 piece of checked baggage while business and first class are allowed 2 pieces of hand luggage and 2 pieces of checked baggage.
