One of the best things about makeup is that it can change our features and overall aesthetic…temporarily. It is possible to look like a gothic princess one day and then a pretty princess the next. This can be done with just a few specific items. If you’re looking to increase the size of your kisser just by a little, you’re lucky! We’ve compiled a few simple tricks that will make the lips appear more pronounced. No needles, no outrageous cost, just the classic makeup illusion.
Liner and gloss can be paired together or balm
The first suggestion is my personal favorite when I want a bee-stung lip without much color.
A liner that is less than your natural lip shade , or the shade that you are using and press it into the lips, with a focus in the middle. This will bring light to the lips, creating the appearance of glistening and the lips will appear more juicy and diffused.
You can also enhance the size of your lips without adding any shade. Draw a little over the lip line using your fingers or brushes in order to smooth the line.
Use strategically highlighted areas
A highlighter or using a concealer that is very light will make your lips appear more vibrant. Be aware that light makes certain areas appear more vibrant, while shadows make the lips receding (hence why we shape our cheek hollows to highlight the cheeky apples).
Apply your lipstick and liner as well as gloss (i.e. similar to the in the above picture!). Take a glittery (not glittery) highlight and rub it onto the bow of your lover and into the center of your lips. This will create the soft lip centers even more full, while creating a moon-kissed shine.
Don’t be afraid to use overline when you’re using color
While matte lipsticks with rich or bright shades may make lips appear larger but it doesn’t have to be this way.
When you apply a strong shade that is in contrast with your skin tone and then pair this with an angular line the shape and size of the lips appear made of stone. But, if you utilize this to your advantage, you can alter the size of your lips by simply extending the sharp line.
TIP: to keep lips from appearing clownish, do not extend the color to the corners of your lips. Keep the extension towards the lower and upper centers.
Keep hydrated and exfoliate
Dry lips appear less attractive than those with hydrated lips, since the crusty layer of dull skin is capable of a sluggish shrinking effect. Exfoliation regularly is vital since it eliminates any flaky or dead skin, and also increases blood flow. We love the Lakme lip scrub! Apply it anytime you’re getting ready for a matte-looking day or when your lips require a bit of revitalizing.
The next essential step is to hydrate with the use of a thick balm that gets deeply in the layer. Apply a generous amount of balm before going to bed. apply it as a lip mask. You can apply it again throughout the day (especially in the winter months). It will not only keep your lips hydrated and comfortable (use an SPF-based balm please) but will also enhance the juiciness of your lips prior to any color-enhancing products are applied.
